Terms of Membership
Effective date: [07/29/2026]
These Terms of Membership govern your purchase and use of a Cult of Nothing membership. By purchasing a membership, checking the acceptance box during checkout, or continuing to use the Cult of Nothing website, you agree to these Terms.
1. About the Cult of Nothing
The Cult of Nothing is a novelty membership organization operated for entertainment, community, and branded merchandise purposes.
Despite the name, the Cult of Nothing is not a religion, church, spiritual organization, therapeutic program, investment opportunity, political organization, or provider of professional advice.
The organization has no required beliefs, teachings, ceremonies, meetings, practices, or obligations.
2. What Membership Includes
Membership provides:
- Recognition as a member of the Cult of Nothing.
- Any membership confirmation or digital certificate we choose to provide.
- Access to member-related communications or features that may be offered from time to time.
- The ability to truthfully state that you are a member.
Membership does not guarantee:
- Meetings, events, classes, counseling, networking, exclusive content, personal development, spiritual guidance, financial benefit, merchandise, or any other particular product or service.
- Any authority, title, professional credential, legal status, special access, or practical benefit.
Merchandise is sold separately unless a particular offer expressly states otherwise.
3. Monthly Subscription and Automatic Renewal
Cult of Nothing membership costs $1.00 USD per month, plus any applicable taxes.
By purchasing a membership, you authorize Cult of Nothing and its payment processor, Stripe, to charge your selected payment method $1.00 each month on a recurring basis.
Your subscription begins on the date of purchase and automatically renews each month until you cancel it.
You understand that:
- This is a recurring monthly subscription, not a one-time payment.
- You will be charged approximately once each month.
- Charges will continue until you cancel.
- No additional purchase is required for each monthly renewal.
Stripe recommends disclosing the amount, timing, frequency, and cancellation policy and retaining evidence of the customer’s agreement to recurring charges.
4. Cancellation
You may cancel your membership at any time before your next renewal.
Cancellation stops future charges. Unless otherwise required by law, your membership will remain active through the end of the billing period already paid for.
To cancel, use one of the following methods:
- Visit: [INSERT STRIPE CUSTOMER-PORTAL LINK]
- Email: [INSERT SUPPORT EMAIL]
- Use any cancellation link provided in your membership or billing emails.
We will not require you to attend a meeting, make a telephone call, provide a reason, or speak with a retention representative to cancel.
Your cancellation is effective when it is successfully submitted through the customer portal or acknowledged by us in writing.
5. Refund Policy
Monthly membership payments are generally nonrefundable once processed.
However, please contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] if:
- You were charged after properly canceling.
- You were charged more than once by mistake.
- The charge was unauthorized.
- A technical problem prevented you from receiving what was expressly promised.
We may issue refunds at our discretion or when required by law. Canceling prevents future charges but does not automatically refund a payment that has already been processed.
6. Certificates and Membership Numbers
We may provide members with a digital certificate, membership number, confirmation email, membership card, or similar item.
These materials are commemorative and for entertainment purposes. They are not:
- Government identification.
- An educational degree or professional certification.
- Proof of religious, charitable, governmental, or legal status.
- A license, credential, security, financial instrument, or item of monetary value.
Delivery of a certificate may be delayed by technical problems, incorrect customer information, spam filtering, or service interruptions. A delayed certificate does not invalidate an otherwise active membership.
7. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to purchase a membership.
By purchasing, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorized to use the selected payment method.
8. Acceptable Conduct
You may not use the Cult of Nothing name, website, membership, branding, merchandise, or services to:
- Commit fraud or impersonate another person.
- Suggest that you represent or speak officially for the organization without written permission.
- Harass, threaten, deceive, or harm others.
- Promote unlawful activity.
- Misrepresent the membership as a professional, governmental, religious, medical, financial, or educational credential.
- Infringe intellectual-property rights.
We may suspend or terminate a membership for fraud, abuse, chargeback misuse, unlawful activity, or material violation of these Terms.
9. Merchandise
Merchandise purchases are separate from membership payments.
Product descriptions, pricing, shipping estimates, return rules, sizing, and availability may be governed by additional terms displayed at the time of purchase.
Purchasing merchandise does not create a higher membership rank because no higher membership rank currently exists.
10. Payment Processing
Payments are processed by Stripe or another third-party payment processor.
We do not directly receive or store your complete card number. Your use of Stripe’s services may also be subject to Stripe’s terms and privacy practices.
You are responsible for keeping your billing information current.
11. Communications
We may send you transactional communications relating to:
- Payments and receipts.
- Subscription renewals.
- Cancellation.
- Membership status..
- Material changes to these Terms.
- Customer-service requests.
Marketing communications, where used, will be handled separately and will include an appropriate way to unsubscribe. Payment-related or legally required messages may still be sent while your membership remains active.
12. Intellectual Property
The Cult of Nothing name, CON branding, logos, website design, text, graphics, merchandise artwork, and related materials are owned by or licensed to Cult of Nothing.
Membership does not grant you ownership of those materials or permission to manufacture, sell, or commercially reproduce them.
You may share photographs of your certificate or official merchandise for personal, noncommercial purposes, provided you do not falsely claim to operate or officially represent the organization.
13. No Warranties
The website and membership are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We do not promise that the website, emails, certificates, payment system, or membership features will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or available.
We make no promise that membership will improve your happiness, reputation, productivity, relationships, finances, spiritual condition, social standing, or general understanding of existence.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Cult of Nothing and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your membership or use of the website.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for a claim relating to membership will not exceed the amount you paid to us during the six months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
15. Changes to Membership or These Terms
We may update the website, membership features, or these Terms from time to time.
If a change materially affects recurring billing, cancellation, or what members receive, we will provide notice as required by applicable law before the change takes effect.
The effective date at the top of this page will identify the latest revision.
16. Termination of the Organization
We may discontinue the membership program or cease operating the organization.
If we discontinue paid memberships, we will stop future recurring charges and handle any legally required refunds or notices.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where another jurisdiction’s consumer-protection laws must apply.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the extent permitted by law.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and any terms displayed during checkout, form the agreement between you and Cult of Nothing regarding membership.
